canesten duo has a tablet and cream. ya can also get a pessary. sounds disgusting but if ya put the cream on a tampon it gets to the right places.

There is also a once off tablet you can take called Difflucan. You can buy it over the counter in the UK but in Ireland it's prescription only. If you have a partner that you are sexually active with he/she should be treated also otherwise it can become a vicious circle. Best way I've always found is both of you take the tablet, use the cream to ease discomfort for the woman and a pessary also eases discomfort/clears infection. I'd go for the whole lot because it's a "pain in the ass" so to speak. If this is your first time getting it you can become susceptible to it in future so always keep the cream and a spare tablet on hand if you can for when you feel that first burning itch rather then having to put up with it until you can get to a doctor/pharmacy.

A doctor at a women's health clinic told me not to bother with any of the fancy and expensive stuff you can buy at the pharmacy. She said that all you need to do is take baths in salt water, and if you do this once a day then it should clear up after a couple of days. It worked for me and, as everyone has salt in the kitchen cupboard anyway, it's free! Yeay! :)

That said, my girlfriend went to the Wellwoman clinic (family planning centre?) off of O'Connell St... Misdiagnosis, bad prescription.. bad times...

Try dactorine too (no sure of the spelling). Its the same as Dactacort, but there's no cortesone (again spelling!) in it, which is a steriod.
