I've been offered a position in Germany which I will probably take. Whats involved in transferring the pension from my current job here in Ireland?

    Thanks

I'd imagine the german system is similar to here in austria. If it is then it's usually only self employed who have a private pension. You will be paying huge social insurance which go towards pension etc. The old age pension here in austria is something like 70 or 80 % of your final salary (average of final 2 years) once you are over 45 years working (i think). If not then it's about 2% for each year worked.

You can also transfer any state pension over from Ireland but i'm not sure how that works (whether it needs to be done now or at retirement). Your best bet is to talk to someone in your local SW office and possibly also someone in the company in germany.
