Christensen considers quitting films

    Just saw this on BreakingNews.ie..
Star Wars heart-throb Hayden Christensen is considering ending his film career to study architecture.

The Canadian actor is currently filming The Decameron alongside The OC beauty Mischa Barton in Italy, but is unsure whether acting is his destined career.

Christensen says: "I don't find Hollywood interesting, so I'm thinking about studying architecture instead.

"A film is a product and as an actor, you can only sell it to sell yourself.

"You don't get to sit at the table before you're ready to give away you're integrity. Maybe it works for Orlando Bloom. It doesn't work for me."

Architecture eh? Can't say I'm too disappointed, although it does somewhat drive home the feeling that Lucas should have got himself a better more dedicated actor.

Then again I'd say it's difficult for anyone not to be seen as typecast after headlining two Star Wars films (unless you're of the Harrison Ford / Ewan Mcgregor sort).

He was pretty wooden in EpII and the first half of epIII, but outside Star Wars, he has proven he can act.

    Architecture, eh..?

    Oh well...

Yeah, i think Lucas seems to have that affect on actors. Remember Neeson saying he was quiting acting after he had finished filming Ep I because the world have film making had become too false or something.

IIRC Liam Neeson came out with the same spiel after TPM and he's still making movies now. Probably just some PR campaign nonsense tbh.

Star Wars films are not a good measure of anyone's acting talents. As much as I love them, they're cheese, and sci-fi. Based on his other films (particularly Shattered Glass), I'd say he's pretty good, and has good prospects, but if it's something he's found he doesn't enjoy as much as he'd thought, then more power to him for finding something he will like (though we'll see does he actually go through with it).

Being in a SW film though is a pure media circus. I know Ewan McGregor was pretty bummed out aswell after the first one (particulary) and the second one (less though), and Liam Neeson was mentioned already. Not sure what the deal is there.

Also, what are the chances that he "acted" the way he did because of Darth Vader in the original trilogy?

I mean, he spoke in all the same tone and was very un-emotional in speech - maybe Hayden Christiensen decided that the guy was like that before he went into the suit too?

    Just a thought..

I thought Hayden was great as Vader before the accident. He looked the part and really sold Anakin's inner turmoil. Just for that I'd like to see him keep acting.
