[Request] Electric Razors Online

Anyone know any good sites or can recommend an Ebay seller to buy an Electric razor from? I'm more interested in the Philishave models.

Also, On Ebay you can buy razors for a fraction of the price you would pay for them here from the US and Canada, even if you had to pay for customs. Would these work here? I know most razors are dual voltage, but would the plug socket supplied with them be the same as the one supplied here (the two-pin type) and if not how difficult would it be to get a replacement?

Hi..I bought a refurbished top of the range Philishave (branded Norelco in the US) from here
All refurbished shavers are sanitized & new cutters installed so there's no question of hygiene issues. The total price was a little over 100 euro (luckily there was no custom duty), the same shaver retails for 240+ over here. Yes, pretty much all modern shavers are multi-voltage so at worst you'll need a 2-pin to 3-pin plug adaptor - get them in any DIY store for a couple of euro.

That looks good, thanks. So the plug that was supplied with the razor you bought was the same 2 pin one that you would get on a razor here?

No, it was an American 2-pin plug but it worked nicely with a 2-pin to 3-pin adaptor that I picked up in a local Telfords store. I can post up a pic later if you want :)

An adaptor will be very cheap especially as it is low power.

Just saw a special offer in argos - The Philishave Sensotec HQ8894 - with 1/3 off - was €290 odd - now €193 or something like that....a very good deal. I'd say it would be hard to get it cheaper on the web including delivery.

    It's this one here...

    Has anyone used this one?
I've found in the past that the hyped up dearer shavers are not much better than the cheaper ones.

Bought a cheap philishave in argos last week for €49. Its grand, I cant complain. Cant for the life of me see what the difference is between the cheapest and most expensive. Placebo effect?

Cheap one doesnt have a battery, but my previous Braun did, and I used to just leave it plugged in after a few months anyway. Shave of the cheap philishave is good too, it doesnt have those moveable rotors, but I since I have never use one with them, I cant comment on their usefulness or otherwise.

The dearer ones have different (better?) cutting heads. They have longer battery life and sometime quicker charges. They have the stand-up charger with clock. They can also come with fancy battery charge displays and 'luxury' cases :) Personally, I think the most useful feature is the ability to rinse it under the tap! With regard to offer I mentioned above, buying that one is cheaper than buying the chapest 'Sensotec' shaver in Argos.
