The point to note here is not that you'll be asked for the credit card but that the actual cardholder must be present either at the airport when you check in for the first flight only or when you physically collect tkts from the airlines tickets desk.

You can get over the problem of your own credit card limit by pre-loading it with the balance in cash. Prob the best idea to avoid problems when at the airport.

Are they e-tickets? if so check in online by signing up here

You would or should have been asked if the creditcard holder is travelling,I dont think its an issue.
I've travelled on many many airlines and never had to present my CC even when advised on the booking site that I had to.

Thats just small print sillyness for exceptional circumstances to cover their árses...
For gawds sake, the second you submit the card details, the authorization charge will be taken ... and you can be sure that within a week of that they will have taken the full payment.
    You'll have insurance too.

Ah Cathay Pacific - aka small person airline. I got a crick in my neck having to slink down in the seat so I was level enough with the view screen to see the film.

I wish!!! I was stuck in row 50 something in the middle between a beautiful Japanese girl and a snoring Aussie. I think the rows went to something like row 64 on the lower deck. The flight was packed and it was HKG-SYD by the way.
