Had been considering Sky+ & Multiroom for a number of weeks and decided to make the call today to place an order, seems as though the price dropped today to €149 down from €199.

Is this price only when ordering direct from Sky, or would it also apply to Sky resellers?

I have a couple of other questions too.

The small print in their booklets usually mentions special prices only being available to new subscribers and not existing or previous subscribers. Just how far does "previous subscriber" go? We were subscribers for a brief period (months rather than years) way back before there was any hint of Digital.

I am aware that Sky+ has occasional glitches, like failing to record for whatever reason. If something is series linked and such a glitch occurs, would it only miss that one episode, or would it also fail to record subsequent episodes in the series link? I ask because I'll be away for a month later in the year and I'm thinking of getting Sky+ to record some stuff I don't want to miss. Or rather that is providing the excuse for finally getting it after months of interest ;)

Wait is this for sky + (once off)\

and what is multi-room exactly, is their a monthly charge for that

multi room is €15, its a mirror sub of what you have on your main card.
So if you have a fulll sky sub inc sports and movies, you will have that on the mirror sub also for the extra €15.
Phoneline must be connected at all times for the mirror though to ensure its not going to another house on the cheap.

I wonder how long it will take before they are flogging sky+ 40 for free.......

€149 for multiroom and sky+ sounds good, but I begrudge paying €15 for sky+ and another €15 for multiroom and then having to pay my package on top of that - I also don't want to go down the road of having premium channels as they are a rip off. Hopefully they'll drop one of the subs :D

If you are thinking of taking up one of these "great deals" I would strongly caution you to seek independant advice from an independant installer.

    Why so?

Methinks he may be referring to the fact that skys installers aren't always the most reliable. At least with sky though, if you choose to have an installation through them, its sky who honour the warranty...

You can't have multi room at the reduced price. You will have to pay full price for both boxes.

you can but you would have to go to an independent dealer and pay full price for the box as without the phoneline he will not be able to claim back from sky.

some independent retailers will leave the box on in their shop/workshop etc. connected to the foneline until it gets activated or whatever it does

then they give it to you when its done. not sure if this actually works though as sky *may* check for foneline connection in the first 12 months contract period

If you have no phone line does that mean that you can not use sky box office?
I had my phone line disconnected for a few months(after a broadband install). After awhile I was getting insufficient credit when trying to order a movie. Seemingly I had 50 euro credit on the box which had been used up by the movies that I had ordered.I thought that when you ordered a movie that it was charged to your account immediately....seemingly not

Well if you don't have an active phoneline connected to the box, how is it meant to connect to sky to transmit billing information>?! :p
If you plug the phoneline in, you will be hammered for all your backordered movies which were never charged to your account.

If you want to order PPV movies, you can ring sky up also but there is a €1.27 surcharge or "administration fee" if you don't use the phoneline.

Can you get this offer if you have sky already or do you have to be a first time subscriber?
