right so today when i was doing up an invoice on the comp downstairs, i tried to print it and then nothing, so i checked everything out and found that the port is missing in device manager, then i decided to reinstall it by going through add hardware wizard, but couldnt find and lpt1 port drivers.
so does anyone have any ideas of what i can do.

    Thanks.

maybe check in the bios if it's still enabled...

Did you check the BIOS settings to see if someone accidently on purpose turned it off?

    some ideas

install the ERU/ERD utility from the CD to backup the reg before continining
    reboot
check device manager - remove parallel prot and do a new hw search
have you installed a zip parallel port drive recently
