Putty To Server Through Router!?!

I have a redhat linux 8.0 server running inside my network, i can connect to it from inside my network no problem using putty, when a friend trys to connect to the server from outside the network they get a 'Connection refused' message, i've forwarded port 22 to the internal ip of the server but cant seem to figure out…
