    Sorry for bragging but this is the first desktop computer I've bought NEW since a PC-XT back in the 80's so I'm fairly chuffed with myself !!! It's a Dual 2GHz G5 with the 128MB Radeon - 512MB DDR - 160GB SATA - 16X DVD-RW.

    Beautiful design, very impressive build quality and very very quick. The first thing I noticed was the vastly improved sound quality over the Quicksilver 2002 it replaced, haven't had a chance to try the optical outputs yet. The inclusion of a headphone socket at the front is also a nice feature.

    Photo's available soon !!! :D:D

    Why ruin a perfectly good operating system by sullying it with winblows :P I.M.O. OSX beats the crap out of windows :-) Only irritating thing I find is the constant upgrades in recent times with OSX, at least windows updates are free.
    Unlike the recent incarnations of OSX which usually retail at about $129.99.
    I love my mac tho, it has to be said :-)

    I love my Mac's too, they look luverly. I'm not getting into the battle of the OS's as everyone has their own preferences. Mine would be windows because of the variety of software available but I do concede that mac's os have always been a step ahead of windows with inbuilt features .

    'Always' been better?

    Right. System 9.0 versus Windows 2000. Try arguing that one.

    OS X 10.0 or 10.1 versus Windows XP. Try arguing that one even.

    NOW they're back on top features and stability wise. But for a good 3-4 years, at the height of the tech boom, Apple hadn't got an OS leg to stand on against Microsoft.

    With System 9, they were behind Be and Caldera Linux also, it had got that bad

    There's the irony right there !!! Yes there is plenty of software for windows that the Mac doesn't have, most of it is either viruses or software to stop viruses, spyware or software to stop spyware, malware or . . . you get the picture right !!!

    @BazH

    I'm not likely to take any better a picture than the lads at Apple but I'll post a couple of pictures later on my site and link to them here.

    To be honest pictures don't do it any justice at all, it's a stunning looking machine and the inside is a work of art. They should have made the case transparent but that said the 3mm brushed aluminium and perforated front with the cool cd door is a testament to Apples design and build quality.

    The difference in performance is amazing. With 512MB RAM I'm running VirtualPC with XP Pro with 128MB assigned to it and it's as quick as the Athlon 1600 sitting beside it !! Ripping CD's in iTunes is a dream, DVD's and video conversion seems effortless with plenty left in reserve for other tasks. I imagine it will be even better when I add the 1GB of PC3200 DDR I've ordered to the 512MB already there.

    Tiger on the G5 is not the same as the Retail product for 129 euro, there are subtle differences only noticable on the G5. MOHAA is lovely with full detail switched on and the sound quality from the line output is brilliant, helped by the fact that the system box makes very little or no noise at all thanks to the 2 slowspeed HUGE fans used for cooling. They're so quiet I can hear the hard disk chattering !!! I'm looking forward to using Final Cut Pro and DVD Studio over the coming weeks to really push it. It eats up Photoshop images (3MP RAW images) and spits them out for breakfast.

    My only gripe is more to do with Tiger than the G5 - Spotlight - I hate it !! I prefer Find from the Finder menu. Spotlight is just too thorough and not configurable on a search by search basis. Other than that . . . :)
