Popes visit/Knock shrine and airfield?

    Was there an airfield built in knock for the popes visit and if so how much did it cost? (i've checked online to no avail :S)

    No, he arrived there by helicopter as he did everywhere else.

    The airport in Knock(horan international) was'nt built till 1986, pope visited in 1979, so I think its safe to say they are not connected, (although the popes visit may have been a catalyst).

    Oh i read that link already,i'm just discussing something with a guy who's usually knows his stuff so i didn't wanna go in and have myself owned afterwards :P

    No airfield.
    No private jet
    and no Jesus.

    Only one Pope has been there. As per another thread hereabouts, it is the Pope's visit to Knock we are talking about.

    The Pope did arrive by Helicopter and it was Our Lady, St. Joseph and St. John the Evangelist that appeared in 1879 in Knock.
