so, anyone else thinks Chris Martin speaks utter rubbish?
    See below article:

COLDPLAY frontman CHRIS MARTIN has blasted music company EMI GROUP PLC for pressing his band to improve the corporation's stock price by selling millions of copies of their new album X+Y.

Martin refuses to be intimidated by EMI, which owns Coldplay's record label CAPITOL, so has attacked the music giant for making him a slave to shareholders.

He complains, "I don't really care about EMI. I'm not really concerned about that.

"I think shareholders are the great evil of this modern world. I'm not comfortable with the slavery that we are all under to shareholders.

"It's very strange for us that we spent 18 months in the studio just trying to make songs that make us feel a certain way and then suddenly become part of this corporate machine.

"Deadlines mean nothing to us. We'll sink the whole company (EMI) if we have to."

Oooh, big man Chris thinks he can sink the whole company. I've got a wee feeling he'll just take his multi-million paycheck instead....
Why does he strive to become an idol of the anti-capitalism movement?
He always spurts out the most hypocritical tripe....

Because, as Liam Gallagher has pointed out with unerring accuracy, he's a 'student knob'.

haha!! Good old Liam!! The most sane person in the music industry :D

Liam's actually called him a 'knobhead student' then continued...
"When Coldplay did this gig they banged on about the war, that's wrong. Chris Martin shouldn't be using this cause to bang on about his own views on the war. If him and his gawky bird want to go banging on about the war they can do it at their own gigs.

"That lot are just a bunch of knobhead students - Chris Martin looks like a geography teacher. What's all that with writing messages about Free Trade on his hand when he's playing. If he wants to write things down I'll give him a pen and a pad of paper. Bunch of students.

incidentally his 'gawky bird' is Gwyneth Paltrow :D

Keep up the good work our kid.

Out of curiosity in relation to taking record companies down, whatever happened to Courtney Love's case against her record company...or did it all end in a drug induced haze...?

Fair play to Chris Martin, has a right to showcase his music and not music that EMI want them to play.

Sidenote : Liam Gallagher is the knob.

Sure, since Coldplay are so cutting edge and all. And not banal indie fodder for the hard-of-thinking that sells by the shedload. I doubt EMI could make them any more commercial if they tried.
Sidenote : Liam Gallagher is the knob.

At least he has a sense of humour which you appear to be sorely lacking.

TBH, I ain't Martin's biggest fan but Liam Gallagher has always struck me as one of the most ungrateful, spoilt, petulant twats in the business.

calling someone a student knob isnt funny though.

you've an education?? man you're sooooooooooo uncool.

I am far from a fan of Liam personally but he is perfectly correct in the above quote..

What got his wick was that they were at a benefit gig for disadvantaged kids organised by Richard Ashcroft. What happened was that Martin and his 'bird' then used the occasion to speak out against the war. Liam thought (correctly in IMO) that it was inappropriate and neither the time or place.

Liam is a knob but in this occasion he is dead right

I don't think its the fact that he's got a degree that's at issue here; its more the fact that he's pretentious, immature, self-absorbed and a fully signed up organic, fair trade, anti-corporate stereotype.

Try reading 'Student Grant' from viz to see where Liam is coming from:
Student Grant is a cartoon strip in the British comic VIZ featuring a University student named Grant Wankshaft. It first appeared in 1992 and was quite prolific during the rest of the 1990s, although has appeared less frequently since then. The strip was created by Simon Thorp.

Grant Wankshaft is a student at the fictional Spunkbridge University (Spunk is British slang for semen). It is not known exactly what he is studying as he rarely turns up to lectures.

Grant likes to think of himself as a very liberal intellectual who is both independent and is very world-wise. In reality he frequently shows bigoted opinions, is not especially bright, relies on his doting parents for money and has little idea about the world outside of campus. In some ways he is similar to the character Rik in the sitcom The Young Ones.

Grant has a number of friends who are just like him in that they are eager to express their "individuality" by all wearing the same clothes. The latest student fashions they wear are invariably ridiculous, like huge hats, bright yellow dungarees and T-shirts with geeky slogans on them like All Your Base Are Belong To Us and Thunderbirds Are Go!. They are very opinionated and love to talk loudly (and ignorantly) about various subjects, emphasising their sureness about their statements by tagging "...actually!" at the end of their sentences. They are convinced of how intelligent they are, usually "proving" it by listing the grades they got in their A-levels.

    Grant and his friends are all obsessed with being politically correct, to the point where they often argue about who is the most politically correct of them all, such as the time they had a passionate debate about whether it was racist or not to like Ali G ("Well I heard black people do like Ali G, so if you don't like him, that makes you racist, actually!"}

Although Grant likes to think of himself as in touch with the working classes, he is actually from a solid middle class background. He also clearly has a lot of latent contempt for the working classes and non-students in general, regarding them as ill-educated peasants. Because he has a habit of making his opinions loud and clear, this has resulted in a number of savage beatings for Grant on the occasions he strayed off campus and into the real world.

Don't know about you, but that sounds like Chris Martin to me.

Not a fan of either Martin or Gallagher as such.

But he's right about PLC's, shareholders, branding etc, load of pissflaps.

Hmm.. It's really a minefield out there.

Liam Gallacher: Act like idiot, get drunk, get a fancy studio to put strings onto our C progressions, take shedloads of drugs, copy The Beatles, look more and more like a primate and create further and further cringeworthy pop-trash trying to hard to be a minorty, copy Paul Weller, and I'm working class and you're just a posh wanker tripe..... and still works for the Man.

Chris Martin: Makes inoffensive pseudo-rock music, and leverages his popular celebrity to aid good causes like Fair Trade.... that's not hypocrisy, that's intelligence, perhaps lack of integrity, but hey, he's honest.

Coldplay now sound like U2, and CM is becoming Bono.

coldplay are pretty good but all this gotta save the world stuff just ends up getting twisted around by people and every celebrity who does it ends up looking like a twat

but in saying that Liam Gallagher comes across as a complete knob in any comment he makes. the poor man still tries to be working class with a few million in the bank and instead just comes across as a spoilt little kid who could do with a smack in the mouth

As we all know having money doesn't stop you being working class. Ergo: the horrendous 'taste' of footballers, rappers etc when they come into millions.
