apologies if this is the wrong place for this but

Argos are usually quite cool about returns. Ive returned stuff Ive changed my mind about and they gave me a cash refund.

    good stuff

    thanks lads

Argos don't usually repair stuff. So the likelihood is that they will just offer you a replacement. The product comes with a one year gaurantee.

They have a seperate returns desk at most shops. Bring along your ipod with proof of purchase (receipt or your bank statement/credit card statement), bingo...new ipod.

Dixons have a pain in the ass returns policy. When I returned my MP3 player, they took one out of the box and gave it to me. They wouldn't give me the instillation disk for it. And I lost my old one.

Certain products dont have the 16 day money back (no quibble).. but they inform you when you but it. Usually stuff that if used is unhygenic to be resold like shavers etc.

I'd presume they would give you the address of a repair centre to send it to. I doubt they'd just hand you over a new iPod. A warranty covers a repair for 12 months. If it can't be repaired, then they give you a new one AFAIK.

Blisterman - if you had the same mp3 player before then what was the problem with them just giving you a new player? You had everything else from before. Otherwise you should have brought everything back that came in the box when you first got it so they could give you everything in the new box. That's a standard policy for many shops.

I think you'll get the new ipod with little or no hassle, as long as there isn't any visible damage or signs of abuse, Argos are good about things like that

Well actually I had reformatted my hard drive, but seriously, what are they gonna do with the instillation disk?

Going a step up the chain, for Agros, Dixons or anyone else to get a refund for the reseller, they must return everything. It's not their fault you lost the cd, it's yours.

Most manufacturers allow you to download drivers from their website, try going there.

They send it back to the supplier and the supplier refunds them the money for the faulty item, but sometimes won't do refund them if they don't send the box with all its contents. That includes the cd. So what they do is give you the new mp3 player out of the box, put the old one in and then send it back so the box has all the contents.

Well my friend has the same MP3 player, so I was able to borrow his. And actually, you couldn't get the software off the site.

Except if they are broken of course. They also have no return on digital camera which is odd. Computer games too, but that is understandable since I'd say kids were using argos like xtravision getting a free 16day rental which would usually cost more than the game itself.
maybe people were "renting" the best digital cameras for weddings and bringing them back after.

If its broken they'll take it back though ... like they did with mine when the battery lid became loose.

It's stuff like that which makes me think that sometimes GAME should get rid of 10 day returns.

If you have the original box then box it up, put everything in, and bring it back. Say it's broken and they ususally give you a replacement on the spot. They sometimes even offer a full refund even when outside the 16 day period. I've replaced a few items like this before and even been refunded months after purchase on one or two items. Never had any hassle.
After 30 days but within 1 year of purchase
Please return the faulty item(s) along with your receipt or order number (can be found on your order acknowledgement or delivery packaging) and we will usually be able to repair it for you. If we cannot offer a repair, then we will give you a replacement product.
They'll replace it on the spot for you.

Yep, its the law that they have to take back broken stuff and it usually says it in the catalogue. I had a digital camera which "broke" and they gave me a cash refund. I just told them it wouldnt connect to my PC, it was actually working fine.

I also got a heat gun once to do a job, it was a no quibble return, just asked if it was broken and I said no, they gave me cash back

I worked for a year in Argos on the customer service desk (returns). You'll have no problem whatsoever getting a replacement so long as you have your receipt

ive been working there for the last 5 years (i know how sad) and yeah they'll offer you a straight replacement if u have ur receipt. as with all hard disks, u'll lose your tunes though which sucks.

I think Argos have a great returns policy, ergo, i buy quiet a lot of things there, vis-a-vis, they get more sales.
