    Do you have tu use matched pairs when sticking in DDR? ie can I put in a 256 and a 512? Its PC2700 BTW

    You can use any combination of memory size, (eg as you said 256 and 512) but i'm pretty sure they will both have to be PC 2700. Also if you want to avail of dual channeling , they need to be identical. Same timing and make AFAIK.

    Cheers thats what I wanted to know, I thought as much. No dual channel just a 256 and a 512

    You should be able to mix ram sticks of different speeds - the whole lot should run at the speed of the slowest one.

    Speed is a factor of the FSB, everything trys to run at that AFAIK

    I've run 512 and 256 DDR pc2100 side by side for ages with no problems
