Here I am replying as if I´m an Indian travel expert, which is a bit much as I never actually went to Bangalore. But I was nearby. Not to be overly negative, but I met some Aussies who warned me to stay away as it was a modern industrial megalopolis. It´ll be roasting hot in the summer and as polluted as all the other Indian cities.

But I´m sure it has its good points too, the most important of which being that it´s in India and not in Ireland.

My dad was in Bangalore about 2 years ago. He said the difference between rich and poor was unbelievable and it was hard to take at the start. He went with work also, the company which he visited had a garden out front in which there were women payed to pick the grass, rather than getting it cut. Pretty crazy.

I have been to Bangalore before, and yes, it can be quite shocking for someone from the first world, just like the rest of India. The culture, pollution (air, noise etc), and the general rundown look of almost everything – some hate it, some enjoy the experience!

Don’t forget your jabs and stick to bottled distilled water – stay away from cheap places to eat (you would find a euro plenty for lunch!), if you don’t want to get a delhi belly!

If you are into places and history, there’s a lot to see and do around Bangalore. Goa is not that far away (famous for its beaches and a popular backpacker joint) and if you travel south to Kerala, you can indulge yourself in traditional massages, beautiful coastline and beaches etc.

    Good luck!

A few friends have been with work, and the ones staying in fancy hotels said it was ok. If staying in an apt it was terrible. make sure u look after urself before u go, as in if u have any fillings u have been meaning to get done, sort them out. U dont want to go to a medic over there.

On the positive side, they will make u a suit for very little money, get a few! :) and the same with hand made shirts and the likes.

    Enjoy!

Wondering how you got on in Bangalore - did a search on the boards and found this thread from last year.

I'm going next month with work too and wondering if you found much to do close to Bangalore? I'll have about 2 days max to myself for some sightseeing etc.

Would really appreciate any advice or suggestions - thanks
