    OK , breifly

I'm due to be moving with my job to another country.
However with the wages in mind, it has come to the other people
and myself who are moving that the techs doing the same job in the destantion country are getting paid about 2 k more than us.

What is the legal standing here ?

The company have yet to comment on it , even though it was raised with them over a week ago .

Sorry didnt' know where else to post this ... move if needed

There's no legal standing in this country. The contract you signed is the contract you signed. People quite often get paid different amounts for doing what is essentially the same job (Obviously though there are grounds for appeal if you feel you're a victim of discrimination).

My brother spent a year or so in the States with his company at one point, working with their staff over there. He was telling guys who were getting paid almost 1.5 times as much as him, how to do their job.

Yeah a mate of mine is moving job to scotland, and had a similar concern

As far as i know you are entitled to get what ever you signed for in your contract. If it is less than what they are paying somone else, see if you can get them to up the wages to the same as the others.

i dont think the problem is getting what his contract states, but what other people get.

as long as he is getting what he negotiated and is in his contract, then thats what he gets.

should have done your research before you negotiated your package my friend.

How many days / hours per year do you / they work?

What about fringe benefits? VHI? Bus pass? Pension?

Are they covering your moving costs? It might be tax efficient to do so.

Is this is a permanent move? If so, then I would imagine a contract re-negotiation will take place, at which point you can raise the issue.

If this is a temporary move, then your expenses etc should be paid for, and if you are out of the country long enough, then you should get a good bit of tax back. This should make up for any difference between your salary and the general salary in the new place.

Have they been working longer than you have? Perhaps when you've finished your probation period you'll get a 2k raise. Good luck in your new job and new country :)

but is the company putting you up? flying you over? helping you learn the lingo?(which they have to by law nowadays I believe)
