ISO Files?

I just downloaded a program from a friend off a file sharing network.

The image is an ISO file which I think is some kind of CD burning imaging file.

I'm trying to get the actual file to work on my computer though, and I can't.
I've tried renaming it as an .exe file, but it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas?

    1) Get a CD burning package.
Burn the ISO image to the CD.
    Voila.

    2) Get a CD image mounting application.
Mount the CD and run as though it was a physical CD.
    Voila.

get a program called daemon tools , and use it to mount a virtual image of what is in the iso file :D

in case there wasnt enough info there...Daemon Tools creates a fake ( "virtual" ) cd drive on your pc which allows you to mount/put the .iso image onto so in turn your pc thinks you just inserted a cd into your virtual drive...

works brilliantly....Daemon Tools is the simplest one to use but there are others like Alcohol 120% and all that.

    Taize.

like the prior says, daemon tools is the business, there are lots of cd image readers available but daemon tools is the best by far, its great for making backup of discs as well

ISOBuster is fairly handy for looking at data files on a CD image.

Kind of. You have to tell the burning application (nero/easy cd creator/etc) that it's an image file (ie a file that contains a collection of files in CD/DVD format) and to burn it as such.

This is usually achieved by looking for a CD image option or an "open" button in the application

It actually is! And now I've mounted the damned thing, I see the files are all in SWA format. I think this means they're in SWA format - think this means I need some kind of key or something. Dammit! Am I foiled again?

this seems to be an audio format for Shockwave flash

You would need fireworks or a suitable viewer ?

Have you tried opening it in Internet Explorer ?

    http://filext.com/ file extention questions..

The beta 2version does work for xp home edition sp2. Gave it a whirl and it worked. Once installed locate the iso file and it should have a new iso icon. If you want to burn an image onto a cd right click the file and choose copy to cd - you will get a gui asking for location of file
(which u have to locate -dont assume it picks it auto) and then copy. I used Roxio. I learned this today ....enjoyed linspire 5.0 "bootable" free cd. My left test. Beep.
