Backed Up Files

    Hi folks,

I hope someone can help me. I've been forced to reload my OS this weekend (XP Home) after I corrupted the registry. I had backed up all my data to a DVD-R but now that I'm operational again, my DVD rewriter won't/can't read the files on the disc. It shows the disc as being full but shows no files inside. I previously had loaded Ahead Nero software from the disc that came with my old PC but have now sold the old PC and passed the disc onto the new owner. Is this the cause of the problem? I still have the nero files on my c:/ drive despite reloading the OS but they don't seem to be working.

The PC is a dimension 3000 and the rewriter is a Philips DVD+- 8631 with the BIOS flashed (CD21.exe).

I appreciate all suggestions as this is my most up-to-date backup.

Is the BIOS flash a Philips released one, or is it a hacked firmware? (Region free etc)

WHat format did you use to burn the media (UDF, ISO). Is the disc finalised?

    Thanks Wizzard.

I was directed to the BIOS flash by Dell themselves but the rewriter wouldn't read the disc before I flashed it anyway. I'm unsure of the format I used and I believe the disc was finalised. I was able to move files from the disc before I reloaded the OS.
