I bought a belkin wireless laptop kit and the router worked fine but the wireless internet card wouldnt light up or be reconginized in the laptop at all. a friend tried it on their laptop and it worked fine so what is the problem, please help? laptop has a 500 processor,256 mg ram, and 12 gb hard drive with dvd drive. Thanks

Does anything at all happen when you put the card in? Is it seen at all in device manager? If not I would be checking the pcmcia pins... they are well known not to be great on Latitude C series

no it has windows XP prof on it. Nothing shows in the device manager as it says install card and it doesnt recongize it ,the drivers will not install. HOw do I check the pins? Thanks. I have had it online using the line form my desktop and cable internet but want to use it wireless.

if its picking up the card and trying to install then the pcmcia pins are probably okay. You could shine a torch down into the slot and make sure none of them are bent.

Also the CPX was never designed to run XP so you might not have much luck I had problems getting a pcmcia cisco wifi card running on a cpx recently and normally they are simple to install on xp.

Are you using the latest driver for the card?

Are there any firmware upgrades available for the card from the manufacturers website?

Probably worthwhile doing a full windows update on the machine too and selecting all the hardware/driver updates.

I am wondering if somethng is missing on the laptop, the only thing I see under pcmcia adapter is 2 texas instruments PCI-1225 Cardbus controllers.nothing under network adapters ,is this as it should be before installing internet card?
Thanks, I am just trying to figure out what it might be,I am going to connect it to internet with my desktop connections and try updates as u suggested. Thanks
