2 Songs to Play?

A mate of mine has to play two pieces of music on Tuesday on the drums as part of her music course and she asked me to accompany her on the guitar. I'm just trying to think of two songs to play which are interesting for both the guitarist and the drummer. I was thinking Orion until the bass interlude and maybe some Rage Against The Machine or Queens Of The Stone Age (Little Sister maybe).

    Anyone got any other ideas?

Orion might be a bit dull with just a guitar and drums... The Thing That Should Not Be maybe?

    and

Hmm, well I have to see if this is happening or not. If it is, we'll probably get together later and batter out a few songs.

    Testify - RATM.

Good for both Drums and guitar.

yeah paranoid would be deadly...feel like makin love sounds good with just drums and guitar

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Feel Like Makin Love? Don't know it...

Aye, Testify could be an option. Of course, this is smack bang in the middle of my exams so my guitar learning time is greatly reduced :(

ah ha i see...yeah connall is good for sure

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

That he is and that's one of the catchiest songs I've heard in a while. Heard it at a gig, was humming it for a week. Got the album last night, I've listened to that song about 20 times already. Love that whammy.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 535 ✭✭✭bonzai bob

I downloaded the album. Each song is good individually, but imo as a collective they don't have as big an impact.

    Fair Play to em though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

i think u might be right there bob...i listen to that album like 3 times a day (its in the car like) and i love all the songs but maybe it isn't amazing as an 'album' like...whammy is the business..hard to use it as effectivly as conall tho

    edit : i say like a lot

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Whammy is one of those effects that can be over used so easily, just like wah. Conall doesn't do that. Which is nice :p

Damn it, listening to YPE again

Any more suggestions for songs? Have to see if she follows up on this thing. She could have gotten someone else at this stage for all I know...

ah feck it if she did fey its somethin to talk about :D... spiderwebs by no doubt...hedonism skunk anansie... a bit of nirvana...

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Aye, Nirvana was mentioned but I kinda vowed never to play Teen Spirits ever again unless I was taking the piss.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

    Hmmm, maybe...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

what about drive by incubus (little bit tricky) or somethin like a rocked up version of an old song like rush did with summertime blues

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Aye, possibly. Reef - Naked maybe or **** Like a Beaver. Simple as hell but it's great :)

Christ, Enter Sandman or Whiskey in the Jar would be grand.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

jeseus i hate whisky in the jar but enter sandman would be deadly...maybe wherever i may roam too...or what about a medley of the main riffs off about 20 songs..i did that as an intro to a song i had before...best craic in the world to play

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Ah, I love Whiskey. Roam's structure always confuses me :(

Medley eh? Could do... A riff from every song on Master Of Puppets :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

she'd probably fail if she played that :p...yeah the me50 has a ps on it that'd do the verse sounds and all ...that'd be a piece a piss

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

    Ytse Jam? ¬_¬

Emm, some of the Zep stuff can be kinda good with guitar and drums if you're up for it. Rock and Roll, or Immigrant Song? Some QOTSA songs are good too; Little Sister, like you mentioned, could be good.

Might be a bit far off with the genre, but
Cissy Strut by The Meters has good guitar, and is one of the alltime great funk drumming tracks.

    Blasphemy!
Unreal band, and if you listen to I properly, its not the same! :D Actually, do listen to it again, properly this time! :D Hehe.

How about some Smashing Pumpkins stuff? All pretty straightforward, easy to play, and recognisable! :D

Hmm let me see.... guitar and chick-playable drumming.

    White Stripes you fool!
