Fecked up on ordering a drive. I blame it on late nights and drink. Got to keep the credit card hidden. Ended up with Western Digital 200 GB SATA drive whilst my PC takes IDE only.

Is my only option to buy something like this

and a sata cable. Is it worth the extra money or should I take small loss and just flog it on and get IDE drive. Using it for main storage with old 60 GB drive as start up.

    Cheers

Afraid I opened it and bought it for business rather than as individual. By the time I'd pay return postage and deal with hassle I'd probably lose more.

I accidently did the exact same thing about 7/8months ago with my 300gb hd, luckily my comp supported sata. I brought it into work today as I'm doing a reformat and reinstall and the like... but none of the comps in here have sata... sorta 4got that. There is a card you can buy in peats/Maplins that convert it from sata to ide though.

    Hope that helps :)

yeah the sata controller would be the best bet, the only other option would be a bridge board but that works out the same price or more
