    Hey.
Been playing about two years now with my squire p-bass. In a serious enough band now so I'm thinking of investing in something of a bit more quality. Just wondering what bass guitars you guys have and if you'd reccomend any? I'm looking for something quite light and good for playing fast punk/at the drive-in kinda stuff.

What's your price range? My Warwick Streamer would suit your bill quite nicely but it might be a tad expensive. If you can push for one it's a gorgeous instrument, and it has gallons of punch for that tone. I picked mine up on eBay for 650 in total. You could do the same easily enough.

How much are you thinking of spending? Perhaps you could re-post it here, might get a more relevant response.

The venerable Jazz bass is the best place to start, when thinking of a new instrument, but if you name a figure we can all start looking for a bass for you :)

if you've got the cash splash out on a rickenbacker.

A ric, while a gorgeous instrument, might have too much low end for what he's looking to do with it. I say Streamer or Jazz bass.

Indeed. A Ric is a very different instrument to a P bass design. Jazz bass all the way.

Or you could get a modulus and never look back! Like me like!

Fender Highway 1 jazz sounds brilliant if you can afford to shell out for it. First of the American made models and it can cover pretty much any style with a bit of tweaking of the volume knobs. Also the necks thinner than P so it's easier to play. I saved all last summer for it. Well worth it!
