RotoStart

My R/C Truck has the rotostart system. However recently when I charge the battery it doesn't seem to work. I even charged it over night. So I've had to start the truck using an electric drill which is a pain cause the rpm isn;t as fast and it's trickier starting the engine cold. I don't know wheter it's the bettery thats dead or the rotostart starter that's faulty. Anyone know a way of testing the battery?

    Use a voltmeter.

normal voltage should be 1.2 x the number of cells in the pack.
    eg 6 cell pack = 6 x 1.2V = 7.2V

Fresh off the charger expect 1.4 V x no of cells for 15 minutes, then it slides down to normal. So 6 cell pack = 6 x 1.4 = 8.4V, for a short while.

If voltage is below this, either your charger or battery is on the blink.

Any decent LHS will take seconds to find out which. :D
