    Whats the best method, ive got an iMac g5, with a 250gb sata drive, and an external 250.

    I dont mind backing up first or whatever is needed.

    As a general rule back up any important files to the xternal drive. (Doesn't external look cool without the "e", I made a deadly typo)

    load the disk, and run it, it was restart the PC, select the upgrade option. It's pi$$ easy.

    Yes.

    Erase & install and use Migration Assistant to retrieve all the stuff you've previously backed up onto your external FW. Few chances of a fscked up installation. Upgrade leaves a whole bunch of vestigial unix stuff lying around which may or may not get in the way in the future.

    This supposes you've got all your application istallers still.
