was just thinking, not only is the price of a new release ridiculus, €5.25, but if it's late then it's another €5.25

was closed when i went to leave back flick last night, thought they were clossed at 11, which they were, but they changed it to 10, they didnt even have a hatch so i could pop it in.

how many people download movies? i'm just waiting for smart bb to get the finger out.

seems to me the price of buying dvd's has gone down dramaticly, while renting has shot up.

at this rate, they'll be around the same price!

On play.com or cdwow you can buy DVDs for not much more than the cost of renting. I haven't rented anything from Xtravision in I don't know how long now as I refuse to pay over €5 for them.

As for downloading, that's illegal and you shouldn't do it. However, if you feel it's less of a crime than charging €5.25 a night for a rental then maybe you should ;)

You can get some movies on Amazon, DVDsoon etc for about 3/4/5 euro, in some cases

Xtra Vision is a scandal, especially since Chartbusters have 2 for €6 for 2 nights!

    1) Dont you have to have your video back before 8:30 ? So they can rent them out again that night to other people..

    2) There is a dropbox for videos/dvds. Again its emptied at 8:30..

And yes, It is very expensive.

I just buy whatever I want to see from ebay. Normally get pretty much anything from a supplier in Hong Kong / Malaysia for about €6/7 including postage.

    Xtra-vision? Xtra-sh1te more like.

Seriously, I use Xtra-vision quite a lot and I find them really good- did think 5.25 was a bit high.....But went to the cinema the other eve- 4 of us cost me the guts of €50 and I got the good fortune of sitting behind a really tall guy and in front of a group of gabbling girls, heard shag all and I couldn't pause it to go to the loo even. So almost €50 for hassel. Give me 5.25 any time and at least 20 people could fit in my front room- Still €5.25, can pause it, and watch it as many times as I want. I think its good value, Actually My store does a 2nd night free offer :D so I can get 2 new releases for 2 nights for 9.50 , Got Man about dog the other day- You should watch it. Its different but quite funny

We rented a vid one Fri night from xtravision.
We were going away next morning (6.30) and planned to drop vid back on the way past.

We assumed that there would be a hatch - but there wasn't one.

We had to to take the dvd away with us and pay 3 extra days when we got back !!!! Annoyed would be putting it mildly.

Is this a xtravision money making ripoff situation where there are no hatches to put it through ?

If it wasn't for my lady - I'd rip our membership card into little pieces tbh.

Mmmm. There should be a hatch. Especally for people dropping them off on their way to work.

Aren't the movies technically due back at 8pm or 8:30pm or thereabouts? If so, they're basically doing a favour by not charging a late fee for someone who drops the flick back at 10. At least that's the way it used to be (I drop things back on time).

In cork (douglas at least) they have a hatch..and two new releases for 6 euros for 2 nights..or 3 old ones for 6 for 7 nights..
i cant complain, especially since chartbusters stopped doing the 2 for 6 euro.. and the most they charge for going over a night is a euro.

Well, in Galway, its the same old 5.25 a night!

Plus, Chartbusters here still run the 2 for 6.

Rip off Irland is alive & well wher is it going to end....With prices like that they are playing right into pirates hands..Why pay €5 for a night when you can get to keep the thing for near the same price....(not that I.m suggesting doing anything illegal mind!!!)

Funny that. Must be cos they have to compete with the Jonesboro movie machine (xtravision I mean)
I also love how Planet do their promo 2 for 2 nights at the slow time of year, but come christmas of bnak holidays it's back to 4 quid a night per disc
