    Hi all,

Myself and my father are off to the Irish Open tomorrow, Saturday in Carton House, we've never been to a golf tournament before so I am looking for some advice please.

    1. What time should we try to arrive for?

    2. Any good tips? Should we follow one golfer around or go with the best player on the day?

    3. Food/Drink whats the availability like and prices, I assume they will be high?

    4. What clothes to wear, should we bring umbrellas or is is it better to wear a rain jacket?

    5. What time does it finish in the evening at?

    Any advice is REALLY appreciated!

    cheers 'n beers

    Here is the best advice.

Bring ur golf shoes- the ground can get very soft and you do not want to ruin a good pair of shoes

Bring an umbrella- standing in the rain is no fun

sunglasses- To get a better view of the ball that the players' balls

Finally: do not bring a camera or you will be rejected from the venue when u r searched

I hope this advice might be of some help to you

It says on the official website that mobile phones are not allowed, I will have mine with me but turned off obviously, will they take it off me if they find it in the 'body search'?

They won't search you (or I've never been). Just make sure your phone is switched off. If your phone rings they will ask you to leave. As for following players, this is what I do. Arrive early (ish) and pick out a hole on the front 9, a nice par 3 of somthing. Get a good spot around the par 3 and wait for the players to play through.

Pick out a grouping that you want to follow, thats a good bit down the order and when they have played through the hole you have been waiting on, follow them around. Tomorrow should not be too bad with the crowds. Don't pick out a popular player to follow, as the gallaries will make following them around difficult. And bring your golf shoes. Enjoy it.
