Ideas for a boards.ie modding/overclocking project

Ok anyone got an ideas or suggestions on how we can go about a boards.ie project??

head over to komplett, build a 24gb ram, 2x opetron amd processors for about 16grand.

I reckon a phase cooled Pentium 840 watercooled 6800 Ultra SLI rig with 4 gig of RAM is the way to go myself.

Reckon you' get 4.5 - 5 Ghz out of the Dual Core Proc under a Mach II or a Lightspeed. Wonder how many points a day it could fold with 4 CPU's (dual core with HT)!

.....Pentium 840 is where it's at.....least this summer anyways! The reviewers had them up to 4.0-4.2ghz on air at or near stock volts.........imagine what we could do with it hooked up to a Mach II or a Lightspeed!!!!!!

well people are getting the san diegos up to 4ghz, an AMD at 4ghz is crazy, give any crappy pentiums a run for their money , and the dual core amds will kickass

PS i dont mind intel its just they suck and AMD rule

One group of 2 people with a triple cascade on the CPU and another phase cooler on the North Bridge got to 4ghz with an AMD.......

......you make it sound like every kid with a watercooled rig is pushing 4ghz with AMD.....


That's like me saying us Intel peeps are all pushing 7ghz just coz Fugger did.....:D

Incidentally he's benched at 4.9ghz with the 840 at stock Vcore, and says the mobo crapped out on him and the chip has more to give.....

ah i know not everyone will be getting those types of speeds, i didnt say that. its just AMD seem to be doing just that bit better than intel these days though in a lot of tests

thats what its about, anyway could be used as another boards server. also as a games server at boards lan parties (could handle LOADS of clients)
