First of the boardies out! oh yeah! Has my position as turd finest player here been compromised? I think not.

Good craic, crazy play, loose calls, unusual raises, what more can i say.... except i think the boardies will take this one tonight. lets see.

the blinds went too quick before the break. The tourney needed to be started 60 mins earlier. It would have resulted in more buy ins and more action.

Last hand i saw before leaving.... Big Dragon goes all in with queen high flush, gets called with ace king no pair. What...?
    Go BG go!

It was a local 1,2,3. some of you will know Pat Brown from the Fitz who came third. Dapper made the final table finishing 5th in what turned out to be a slight crapshoot at the end. Next time we will have an earlier start time to avoid as much of this as possible.

Thanks to everyone from the boards who came up to support our debut tournie. Everyone seemed to have a good time and I hope to see you all at the next one on June 2nd. Start time 8pm. reg opens 7pm.

for the record there were 76 entries generating a total prize pool of just over 7k with the winner getting €2.5k. This was without a huge amount of advertising and also conflicted with the final of a local pub tournie. The next event we hopefully have a field of 100+ making an even bigger prize pool.

    Mike

Well done Mike, tournie ran smoothly and there were no problems seen while I was there. Which wasn't particularly long, I was the second boardster out after Des :)

yeah - well done mike and co. really enjoyed myself last night, got to meet a few boardsters (paul, Mike, possibly someone else) and managed to miss the money by 4 places.

ill certainly be back for more

The best non-casino tourney I've been in so well done Mike. Came 15th. Moved from my original seat with an average stack 30kish, and went out when my 2 pair on the turn were smaller than some other fella's 2 pair and he didn't believe my all-in on a str8 poss board!!

There were few opportunities to bluff or steal but I picked my moments and managed to do oK against the Ax merchants.

    2 highlights:

    1: Taking Dev's chips with a 4 high flush

2: Watching a drunk guy with a load of chips calling an all-in with 57s for 1100 chips when he misheard and it was actually 11,000 chips.

Again, well done Mike and DapperGent.

    4 high flush?

Four diamonds on the board when I had a Jo and a 4d on the BB so had top pair and a diamond flush to Dev's trip 8's (runner runner btw) so my hand was a 4 high flush (all the other diamonds were on the board)

    OK?

Fair enough. Wasn't trying to be smart when I asked but I would always call my flush with the highest card be it on the board or in my hand ;)

Sorry threebeards, didn't mean for the "OK?" to sound sarky. It was because my answer was a bit confusing in itself and just was asking was it clear!

    :)

Well done Mike, very enjoyable night: not for the cards for me, unfortuantely, 'cos I was totally card dead, but the atmosphere was great. Well done to BigDragon and Dapper too for doing well... the rest of us were sh*te! And I'm glad to see Pat Brown finishing third... that's Pat the Storyteller, isn't it?

Re structure, I thought it was very tight (as you predicted yourself). Any consideration to using the extra hour to change the rebuy period to three 20 min rounds (up to 75/150), and/or increasing the starting chip stacks?

The only hand I saw all night was KK in a SNG afterwards, which I got all-in, praying for a call... of course the call came from AA! And to make matters worse, both a K and an A came on the flop! After that, there was only one move left for me... the M1 back to Dublin.

Yeah I will look at making all the beginning levels 20 mins as long as we get running on time. We will also be trying to get some dealers to speed things along, maybe 1 for every two tables and rotate them.

Yep, Lenny Leonard isn't my real name, believe it or not... had the Simpsons on my mind the day I registered with boards; it's getting kinda hard to shake off. Real name Derek, might see you at the next one.

Well done Mike I injoyed the night,As Big Dragon said it was the best non casino night I have played in,nice atmosphere at my table and the standard was very mixed.I went out around 12 when I slow played my kings and an Ace fell on the river....of course the other chap hit and I was also on the way to the M1.

The Boards Sit & Go before was a good game and I went out on the in Mikes position on the Bubble

Tom,Oscar how did you two do in the S&Gs after the tournament...?

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,881 ✭✭✭bohsman

Tom won the 20euro one, Myself and Niall destroyed the 50 one

Well done Mike. Very professional. Also congrats to All who travelled north to support the tourney. Did'nt see any cards myself, two of the playable hands I got were very strange.Thrilled to look down at AK & AQ, both times I split with big dragon on the very same hand. Weird.

I steamrolled the 20 euro sng to make back the money I put into the tournie. They insisted on making the blinds double when a player went out. Cue me taking out two stacks at the same time, tripling through and crippling the rest when the blind quadrupled, after that it was just mopping up time :)

I watched Niall O and Oscar bounce the 3rd guy in the 50 sng between them like a ping pong ball (not that there was much love lost between those two heads up!)

Great night Mike. Pity I couldnt hold onto my chips! I did nicely up to the break, motoring along (and freaking BG out by naming his hand precisely before he revealed it :) ). Then I hit a run of loosish play and unlucky draws. I didnt play my best but I certainly could have done without the kicks to the head the cards gave me!

    That was a fun STT:)

Gr8 tournament Mike! I had no idea how the night would turn out but everything went smoothly (except for the cards of course..) A few dealers rotated around is a good idea. Even 2 or 3 just to show everyone the rules etc and try keep the pace up. Will be back for my revenge on J8o..

Dapper got very unlucky towards the end and I reckon if his JJ held up (J on flop too..) he would have taken the whole thing.
