Okay, this is a thread that I've started basically to make people aware of some metal record labels that offer a great deal of free mp3 downloads from their sites.

With the days of broadband upon us, you can easily download them all and who knows you may even find a good band out of the lot of them and end up buying a cd or two off them.

http://relapse.com - Home of some excellent bands, they offer about 100 free songs to either download as mp3 or stream onto your PC. Also have aload of videos as well.

http://nuclearblast.de/index2.php - Massive archive of Realplayer streamable songs in their "audio clip" section and a selection of new releases in their pre-listening section.

http://www.nuclearblastusa.com/download.html - Selection of realplayer streamable songs (only available on albums which have "listen: song name here" beside the album cover)

http://www.metaltracks.com/cgi-bin/shop.cgi?page=Freebies/freebie&view_item=FREE%2001 - Free MP3's from the metal label "Earache". You need to sign up to the service first (although this is free)

I would appreciate it if anyone else could post up other labels and sites offering a similiar service then it'd be great as I think its a great way of finding good bands who you wouldnt have found otherwise!

Is there any site around that lets you download full albums from unsigned bands?

http://legaltorrents.com sometimes has some good stuff, but its fairly hard to find!

Have a look at www.emusic.com (or whas it e-music?).

Anyways, it's a good site for most "non-chart" music, or at least used to be.

For 10 dollars a month (about 8 yoyos), you can get all the music you want. Legally of course. And that's a pretty good deal i think.
