No, seriously, I don't know who he is. :)

    yes!
he's a very funny dead American comedian who did aggressive and political standup.
Denis Leary is obviously highly influenced by Hicks (ie: he copied him). Hicks standup was far funnier/more intelligent/more thought provoking/better/all of the above.

    All hail The Great GoatLord.

Gawd, where's Hicks when you really need him? If he wasn't cremated, he'd be doing 120 RPM in his grave right now at the antics of George II. He was one of the greatest Bush-botherers, in every sense of the phrase.

    One of his greatest routines:

Presidential Advisor: "Iraqi, Saddam, he's got incredible weapons, we need to take him out Sir"

Bush: "How do we do know he's got incredible weapons?"

Presidential Advisor: "Ehhh....we looked at the invoice, and as soon as that cheque clears, we're goin' in!"

    Or...

"I visited the Texas school book repositary recently, it's now a musuem dedicated to the JFK assasination. They've kept the sniper's nest area exactly as it was in 1963 right down to the smallest detail...including the detail that Owsald wasn't there".

Bill Hicks was once asked what he thought of Denis Leary..

Hicks replied with something along the lines of:
"I love the guy... I stole all my best material off him. But I made them funnier, more interesting and just to confuse everything made them before him"

    The quote was:

"I have a scoop for you. I stole his act. I camouflaged it with punchlines, and to really throw people off, I did it before he did."

    :D:D

Did anyone see the article on him in the Star magazine last Saturday?
Tis nice that his fan-base is still expanding.
The DVD out on him at the moment is good too.
Loadsa stand-up footage & interviews with his family & 'famous' friends.

He is indeed a true leg-end!

could be very funny, but his self righteous, right on whining was a major flaw.
