Not sure if this is the best place to ask but i was wondering does anyone know if its possible to just get sky sports for 3 months or does it have to a year minimum contract. Any ideas how much it would cost and who is better(ntl/sky)?
    cheers

Not 100% certain but I thought that you could adjust the package on a monthly basis.

Branners is correct that the minimum subscription is for a year but you should be able to add the sky sports channels for the three months (or just one if you like) without any hassle.

And yes, you can get the sports without getting the movies.

You can, assuming you are already a SKY subscriber. Not sure original poster is, he is very sketchy on detail.

At the moment i've just got the ntl basic package which is just the normal rte1/2, bbc, utv etc. I presume if i was going to get sky sports i'd have to get some digital box from ntl which would involve a rental fee and then a subscription for whatever channels i want to get. So is it the box or the subscription which must be taken on a yearly contract?
    cheers

If you sign up for Sky now, and subscribe to the the Sky World you will get Sky Movies & sports for free for the first 3 months. After the 3 months is up, you can drop the movies & sports if you liked. There would be not hassle once you remain subscribing for at least 12 months.
    Offer end's June 30th.

With all TV companies you MUST sign up to the digital service for at least 12 months, regardless of what package you take. With premium services such as Sky Movies or Sky Sports, you can add the channel to your package, and can drop down, but you may have to give thirty days notice. The minimum period to subscribe to it is 30 calendar days.

In your case - yes, you must sign up to ntl digital to get sky sports. The NTL basic package is an additional €10 (assuming you are on cable) and the sky Sports package is another €22. You must sign up to the basic digital package for at least 12 months, but if you wish, you may sign up to / drop sky sports at any time - you only have to sign up for 1 month.

Ah yes i'm with you now, so basically it'll be €120 for the digital package for the year on top of what i'm already paying and then €22 extra for sky sports per month. Thanks for help.
