Does anyone here use it? Was thinking of changing from depo to this? Just wondering if anyone had any experiences with it

spoke to my doc about this when i wanted to come off the pill, and she said in her experience that theres been two patients she knows of that got pregnant on Nuvaring, and the patch. I opted for the injection instead, much better

I can't stay on the injection because i've gained too much weight (jumped from a size 8 to a 12) and its caused me to become extremly paranoid

I think you will find that when it comes to this kind of contraception, everyone’s experiences will be different and just because it works for one person doesn’t necessarily mean it will work for another.
Hence, a good relationship with your doctor is the way to go.

you say the injection isn't working for you

you have given up on the pill? all of them?

Yup, its totally different strokes for different folks, I had to change my pill 4 times because it didnt agree with me at all, and thats why i chose the injection. Its what suits me. You should really talk to your doc, he/she can talk to you about other methods of contraception. I havent put on any weight on the injection, if anything ive lost weight. :)

    have you thought abouot Implanon?

Yes i've talked to my doctor about it. I cant take the nomal tablet pill because i have stomach problems, I don't want to use the patch, don't want to get the implantation because i have seen the scars it leaves behind. Hence the reason why i asked about the nuvaring.

    thank you for your help

Implanon is about the size of a match stick.
When you get it removed I can't imagine the scar being bigger than that. Plus it is on the inside of your arm - not very noticable.

I used depo for 5 years - thought it was great, and am now using implanon - love it.

Of course it might not suit everyone. Have a look on the web, and then ask your doctor

    Hi Orla,

I've been using Nuvaring for the past two years approx, since shortly after it came on the market. It is a milder form of medication than any of the pills. I have always been sensitive about stonger versions of the pill, and worried about the health risks, expecially as a I got older, when the risks are said to increase.
I used to take microlite - the mildest form of the pill. Then I went to nuvaring, which, I find to be great. You only have to insert it once a month - it's easy to remember, and easy to do. It's not expensive- approx E20 per month.
I am shocked that someone has posted that you can get pregnant on nuvaring - have you got evidence to back that up....?
Like most pill-based contraceptives, you are safe if you follow the rules.

My advice is to go for it - it's a great invention.
A friend of mine went on the injection a few years ago and blew up from a perfect 10 to a size 14 - she also became very low in herself. Some people have taken the injection and it has not affected them in this way, but still I wouldn't take it, cos I reckon it's a harmful drug, if it did this to my friend.

So my advice is to go for Nuvaring - it's the best.
Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.

Dreamcatcher, there is no form of contraception that is flawless.

My girlfriend used Nuvaring for a month, and it didn't agree with her (can't remember what it was but it just didn't). As most people have said here, different strokes for different folks. I guess trial and error is your best bet (not with the level of protection but what method suits you and your body)
