I have a question here (hijack alert):

I was constantly upgrading my video drivers and eventually was having lovely reboots from them until I reverted to older ones. I have a 9800 pro. Is there any point in me getting these? Or are they entirely focused on the X800 cards now?

ATI's drivers usually fix alot of in game issues, rather than adding lots of performance (it goes down if you look at the comparitive benchmarking that has a link on www.hardocp.com ).

Your issues Khannie are most likely due to the video card drivers not uninstalling properly, as i'm sure alot of 9800 pro users will be using these drivers.

The fixes will be in the release notes on the ATI site, so look there to see if it'll fix anything for you :)

TBH, I use my pc for very few things (UT2K4 mostly), and it does them well at the moment, so it's probably safer to leave it as is.

    Thanks astro.

It is like Chris de Burg says...

    "Don't do it"

You could spend your life updating Catalyst drivers...and I have done... what a waste... nearly as bad as listening to "Don't pay the ferry man " over and over.... but it is generaly agreed that 4.12 is the most stable and I use it on my 9800pro and 9000pro AIW with MMC and the performance is flawless.

To go one better still use the Omega version of the driver.
