this is kinda odd. but let's try it anyways.

i've fairly longish hair as in the pic (in march 2005) and i say it's only grown about half an inch from that.

i kind of want to have my hair like this dude http://mattsharp.net/includes/classes/phpthumb/phpThumb.php?src=/images/cover%20art.jpg&w=150

should i wait and let it grow more then get it cut or should i get it cut in such a way that it grows that way?

here's the pic of me me.jpg (200k) must admit it's not the best picture of myself but i've no other as i don't have a digital camera

    poser!
    you look oddly familiar...
get it trimmed to grow that way, emphasis on trimmed, dont go gettin a load of it cuz it'll take forever to grow that was and its not just about the cut its about the styling technique.
Am I getting to tecnichally girly for you or do you want me to continue?
    I'm going to continue anyway!
When its cut (I'm assuming the pic is your hairs natural state) it'l look great for the first few days as usual, but after, when you wash it, wrap it in a towel for a bit, even just the time it takes you to dress after a shower, then let it down and leave it in a flop on your head or use your hands not a brush to comb it through if you have to. If when its dry and only when its dry it needs to be combed use a wide toothed single line comb to give it a quick brush through and it should be fine!
Add a little wax for styling and extra definition and styling if you want!

the reason for the the pose is because my mate is a photographer and he wanted some pictures for his portfolio but this never made it into it :)

would a hairdresser think i'm mad going in with the picture saying make me look like this?

thanks for your reply it was very helpful indeed

I'm sure they get it all the time! I actually think your hair's well cool as is.. I wouldn't mind ending up with that..

see the thing is that photo doesn't show the back of my hair which is a complete mess, in my opinion. anytime i wash it, the back curls up behind my ears and points out away from my head.

i've decided to keep it this way for now, after a mate of mine got his cut - he had similar length.

    sure zooie....
yeah bout bringing ina picture, I do it the whole time and if I'm flicking through a mag and I see a hair style I like I take the pic out and keep it for future reference! They dont mind at all, I'd say its nearly easier for them cuz they something to work to rather than someone coming along, plonking themselves down and saying "Give us a trim dere would ya!"

one thing i'm comfortable with my weight - even though i'm somewhat overweight - i don't feel like i have to lose any, i eat healthly food, i'm healthy and don't see the need to change.

if you feel the need to slag people on a forum i reckon you must have a very sad life.

    anyways back on topic,

Le Rack thanks for you're help much appreciated, i always wondered why women wrap their hair in a towel i tried it out today and hence i have no curls in it whatsoever.

i'm still in two minds of getting a trim, but i'll think i'll go ahead with it and ask for them to take the weight out of it but keep the length also bringing the photo in.

I feel your pain. I have the exact same problem.
Several times I've put my (hair's) life on the line by just handing myself over to a sylist and gotten a complete botching but I found someone who knows what I want when I get in, so it's all good now.
I wouldn't advise going to a barber because they tend to associate "trim" with Blade 4. As for the picture; they get it all the time. Bring the picture in if you want to get that kinda style.
I'd also agree with all of Le Rack's advice. Good stuff in there!

I go to Peter Mark but it's kinda hit and miss with some of the people as I've said.
