    step 1
    get bittornado - google
    step 2
limit your upload speed to 60-80% of its max, 7-8 kB if your an eircom/esat/utv customer.
    step 3
open the relevant ports, check www.portforward.com for instructions for your router

Yes you will, if it distributes illegal torrents.

    I have azureus,tried bittornado,and bittorrent.
    slow enough downloads,
what are the main advantages of this over the likes of Limewire pro for example?
Is it a case of downloading one torrent at a time or are my bittorrent settings way off,DL UL speeds etc!???

afraid there are a heap of factors that could be causing you trouble...from the file itself, seeding, your isp, connection, ports, etc...

after trying a few of the main clients there are pros and cons to all.
    what about bitlord etc.
or is there somewhere i can get newbie info about clients such as bittorrent.
which is generally regarded as the best client (easiest to use)

I use BitComet, best by far... once you try it won't go back... :)

As for a website, you can find good websites from this news article below, tip start with the last one:
    http://addict3d.org/index.php?page=viewarticle&type=news&ID=4227

Secondly as you'll probably be fidding around opening ports and changing your firewalls settings I recommend this Natcheck, if this passes, you're sorted, nothing more can do... I often get 80-100kbps with IOL BB with pop. files

Bitlord is also quite easy to use. You really just need to USE GOOGLE.
    Try googling bittorrent
    try googling slow bittorrent speeds
    Try googling bittorrent faq
    try googling bittorrent problem

There really is no need for a post everyday by people who dont know how to use a search engine...

Yup. Thougt 2.3.0.0 sucked for the first week, but it's since become both a lot faster and a lot quicker at connecting.
I had a few things running from one of the trackers that got pwned....blue faces now but they're still running .
Still getting random NAT errors for some odd reason though...

I'm presuming the more people get the latest Azereus the better it will get

    Stay away from BitLord!

As far as I can see it's just an ad-supported ripoff of BitComet.

The best and most advanced is Azureus, I think.

The easiest and simplest (and still good) is BitTornado.

    BitComet is a good comprimise.

if your having problems with nat errors etc:
1)set your modem as a bridge instead of routing
2)do your pppoe and authentication from your wireless router and not from your modem
3)forward the ports you want to use from your wirless router to your ip address

    happy downloading,
also if your sick of using bittorrent give direct connect a shot...

Since you're getting a download going the chances are its just that required ports arent open.

Typically you need to share back to other clients to get anyway good speeds.
Make sure the following ports 6881-6999 are open and redirecting back to the machine which is doing the downloading.

As for locking the post, why? BitTorrent is a perfectly acceptable way of getting patches distro etc.

thanx for you help no need for sarcasm!
I know how to search for torrents you mong!its the internal settings on the software itself(thanx chump)
can you preview the file at all!
once a file has downloaded ,what program would run amovie file for example?
because i am getting very average speeds!
global max DL rate is 150kbs
    global max UL rate i s 55kbs
max sim DL tasks is 5
    listen port is 6881
    no proxy
    enable nat/firewall connection
when a download finishes it auto starts to upload, this is normal yes?
how do i play the file plz!!!

johnny boy, i was referring to how to set it up. If you had googled for bittorrent faq you would have found extensive instructions on how to set it up.

Retards like you clog up every forum on the internet with your inane requests because you dont know how to use google.

ffs lads....no personal abuse and lump: why would you have closed this thread at the point that you suggested? Discussing bittorrent is perfectly legal. I kept a close eye on it.

And your report post didn't work....odd.
