I'm currently a student at a university in California. I would like to study abroad in Ireland for a year. I have looked at various universities in the UK, Ireland, etc. So far, I have narrowed my search down to either Galway or Cork. Put yourself in my shoes. Which one do you think you would choose? I'm mainly looking at the general city atmoshpere, college environment, and activities. Any input in regard to these areas would be greatly appreciated as I am being pushed to make my decision fairly soon. Thanks in advance.

I'd go for Galway if I were you. Best city in Ireland IMHO. It has great pubs and there always seems to be a good atmoshphere around the town. My sister spent 3 years in college there and loved it.

Galway is meant to be a student city. 20% of the population are students or something like that.

Probably easier to understand over Cork people as well :p
