just got back from the Merrion freeroll there. Lost 90% of my chips on one unbelievable hand.

PS: This is not a bad beat story just read on!!!

Got dealt A 10 hearts (UTG)
    blinds 200 400, I raise up to 800
UTG +1 makes re-raise up to 1600. I had about 8,000 in chips.

I called as did two other players.

Flop comes 8 7 2 all hearts! I check (nut flush! nut flush!......slow play....) :D
    UTG +1 checks.
Next player goes all in for 5000
    next player folds.
    I call

UTG +1 goes all in for 10,000
I call (extra 1,500 or something)

UTG turns over K 6 hearts!
next player turns over 9 10 clubs (what???)

    turn 4 hearts

river ..... yeh you know it has to be the 5 hearts for a straight flush!

wins a pot of over 22,000

    I laughed and walked away.
I then went back to congratulate him on such a 'well-played hand!'
I actually didnt mind losing to such a crazy hand.

Its the first time ive got a horrible beat and actually laughed at how ridiculous it was! Anybody know the odds on him winning the hand after the flop? He had to hit either the 9 10 hearts or the 9 5 or the 4 5.

Anyway thank god it was only a freeroll! Otherwise........

Rory if you go to the Cardplayer.com or thehendonmob.com site they have poker calculators where u can imput the details and laugh or cry.

If he could hit two cards to fill a straight flush then it was a 3-4%? is that right? check it out its a cool calculator. i use the one on cardplayer.com. they also have an omaha calculator

    hard luck btw, d.

To be fair Rory, he was damn unlucky to flop a K high flush and you to have flopped an Ace high one. Still not sure that deserves such a horrendous suckout.

The actual odds for you losing were .22%

That's right you only lose 2.2 times for every 1000 times this hand occurs!!!

I think this is the worst beat you can possibly get in poker.

amazing! that is horendous man! I admire you attitude after it!

am i the only person here by the way who has a problem with a min raise utg with ATs?
Well, i suppose you were called with rubbish too so maybe it's ok...

yeh i know i was waiting for someone to pick up on that! I never like raising big UTG unless i have A J or better. I always seem to run in to A K or A J or something. A 10 is always a bit of a strange one for me. And a lot of the players were pretty tight.
    I wanted a big pot
