installing network card on cd knoppix

my network card is not found automatically i have a drivers cd for the network card and theres a linux folder which i copied onto the desktop then i open a shell konsole, type su to get root, then cd to the linux folder, and type dpkg --install 3c2000.tar.gz it doesnt work, im probally doing something basic wrong, anyone…

then i open a shell konsole, type su to get root, then cd to the linux folder, and type dpkg --install 3c2000.tar.gz

it doesnt work, im probally doing something basic wrong, anyone like to help plz?

i got it working, with a lot of help from CivilianTarget

i found the answer here: http://forum.osnn.net/archive/index.php/t-61772.html

all i had to do was get root shell console by typing su
then type modprobe sk98lin
then lsmod
then click network card config

and it works
