Logitech MX518 Gaming Mouse, anybody got one?

I'm thinking of buying one to replace my Intellimouse Optical but wondered what people thought of them? I do the usual stuff on the PC plus the odd bit of gaming.
I bought an Intellimouse Explorer the other day but because the middle roller doesn't have distinct notches or clicks as it rotates it's very difficult to choose a weapon in say Half Life 2. So does the MX518 have distinct clicks as you rotate the roller or is it a smooth rotation like the Explorer?

    Cheers!

I picked one up there a few weeks back, sweet piece of kit, variable dpi is quite handy.

As for the roller, i don't believe it clicks per say but more has groves at every step, works fine for selecting weapons in hl2/bfv

It kinda clicks or bumps when you twist it. I can usually get about 6 bumps out of the mouse or 6 changes of weapon in one direction, that should give an impression of what its like. Its very accurate and light weight. The changing of the DPI thing is hard to get used to but im sure it will come in handy. If you like to take the mouse up off the mat when gaming, which i dont do but some do, it is very comfortably done unlike some mouses ive held. Its curvey and fits snug in your hand. The hollographic hole look really cool too!

Also the software it give you with it is great. You can fully costumize the DPI changer and the buttons on it.

It fits on the hand perfectly also and glides accross my mat, which is plasticish, very well. All round great mouse.

Where are you buying it from?

I had it for only 2 days(Sold it to BlackWizard, cause I couldn't get used to the DPI changing(that was the main reason I bought it)) but, but it was enough to write a review about it here

I don't think the DPI changing is meant to work like you thought it would. It should be used when e.g. going from a sniper character to an assault character, not as you were fighting.

Thanks for the info guys! Once it has something other then that smooth rolling effect of the MS Explorer I'd be happy. Not really too interested in changing the DPI so that shouldn't be an issue.

Not sure where I'm buying it yet, I work for an IT company so probably from one of our suppliers, though some of the online sites are worryingly cheaper then them.

Considering the Razor Diamondback either, any opinions on these? They seem to get great reviews!

    Thanks again,
    Phil

^^ is how i've been using it, and when going from fps - flight sim in bfv, which it works perfectly for............ i think mouse acceleration is what you want CG rather than variable dpi

Have an mx518 myself and i would find hard to use anything of lesser quality since i got it. The scroll button is pretty much standard quality in that it does its job the way it should i expected it would(perfectly). The adjustable Dpi feature is really dependant on how effectively you can use it, even if you dont use it its still handy to have if you change your mind. Like someone else said usually the only time i would use it is when in sniper mode in whatever fps game i'm playing. Besides all this it looks and feels great but €60(komplett) is a lot to pay if your just as happy with a basic features mouse that has a good scroll button.
