    Anyone used this yet?

It's for anyone who doesn't have a credit card doesn't want to lose out on those excellent online bargains!

Firstly, you need to get a Top Up Card from this crowd (handed out on college campuses and magazines.. well, practically all over the place last year!).

You go to your nearest Top-Up Club outlet and get a specified amount of money on your card (anywhere between €10 and €200) which you can then use to purchase a Virtual Visa, which you can use to buy stuff online.

A surcharge of €4 applied for amounts applied under €100 and anything over €100 comes with a surcharge of €5. Still.. not bad value at all!

Might get €100 or so on it this week - and buy a couple of DVD's. Got me eyes on Lost - Season 1, Scrubs - Season 1 and Undeclared - The Complete Season.

    Good to hear!..

And for anyone wanting to partake in this 3V business, below is a link to find your nearest outlet to get the money on your Top-Up Card (there are plenty of them anyways):

can you buy say 2 200 euro vouchers and have 400 on your card? my sister is always bugging me to book hotels and buy stuff on the internet with my card, I might get her to sign up for this.

    thanks for the link.

Think the maximum you can have on your card at any one point is €200..
Decide how much you want to put onto your 3V Virtual Visa Voucher from a minimum monetary value of €20 to a maximum monetary value of €200 (in increments of €10).
Anyone have any idea what the 'increments of €10' part means?

It means you can only get €20, €30, €40 etc vouchers. So for example you can't but €34 on it.

Hardly!... considering annual credit card charges etc. And also think about how much you'll save from buying stuff online as compared to your local stores.

I think 3V's are more for occassional purchases rather than people who would use online shopping a lot. Best get a credit card then!

Annual credit card charges are €40, €4/€5 for every time u use it is madness. It is a good idea though!

Yeah.. like i said, more for occassional online purchases for those of us who don't have credit cards!

More regular online purchases demand a credit card.

So far i've spent just over 30 using 3V and i have to say its excellent. So far the onlly problems i had was getting my card to work. It too 3 trips into town on 3 different days only to be told it was a problem on my card!

Now that it's working its great, I think there should be more retailers tho cos they all seam to be City Center based which mean a travel into town.

If ya dont have a 3V now get one!

By the way the number on your card aint like your credit card or a regular visa. The card is used just so 3V can ID who bought the voucher. Each time you buy a voucher you get a different visa number and the the CVV (pin) and Expiry Date are sent to your phone or e-mail. Simple!! :D

i think we're forgetting the fact that there will be no interest on the purchases so the charges are quite low really...

Have to say that they are a brilliant service - you can still get the cards from that new Centra on Stephen's Green - also when i went in there before to top-up the guy behind the counter had used the card himself and was able to explain how it worked.

btw - in case it hasn't been mentioned before the service is offered by Permanent TSB so its about as reliable as you can get...

Yeah I've had this card for a while now - it's alright... nothing special...

If you can afford it - get a credit card though.
