Spiked Hairstyles

I'm trying to find a way of spiking my hair that won't take a million showers to wash out or permanently damage my hair. My hair is about nine inches long and I keep good care of it.

I know that stuff like wallpaper paste will do the job, but the only stuff I can find is slightly lethal, and I don't know what damage it would do.
I've also heard the gel Black&White mentioned, but I don't know where to get it or how well it works. I've tried Red Dax, Fructis Hard, Fructis spiking gel but none of them work.

In short, what hair (or otherwise) products can I use to spike my hair that won't make me bald or blind me, I can remove easily, and where do i find them?

Nine inches is fairly long for spiking but its do-able. Ok well first of all wallpaper paste is possibly not a great idea probably make you go impotent or something! Try any of the strong gels by loreal or brylcream they tend to dry and go somewhat hard and can be easily washed out once water hits it usually eliminates the hard effect immediatly(sucks if your walking in the rain) Give those a shot they should work well! Dunno how u use the red dax its almost an impossibilty to get the crap out of the tin never mind style your hair with it!

to use red dax just get a bit on your finger and then rub it into the palm of your hand. Make sure your hair is wet and then just run your fingers through it. It's also good to keep the tin in sunlight or near some heat source.

LOL ain't that the truth... then you spend 10 minutes with the towel trying to get it off your hands.
9 inch spikes though, man you're going to need something industrial strength :)

    Jaysus!!

    That last guy's right!

9 inch hair would be a nightmare to spike! You'd have to use something really strong, like VO5 Extreme Style Freeze gel!!

That stuff could spike a guiness' rope!!

If you go with dax- you can use T-Gel to get it out of your hair. Try to get the non-medicated kind though. Comes right out with it. Beats eggs.... jaysus.

I find Dax is best when not so oily- so i'd be more likely to stick it in the fridge. Soap gets it off grand, duno why that would take 10 mins. Buy some soap donkey!

  • have you used PVA glue? the kids stuff you get in craft shops, pretty good and washes out easily.

I think the 10 mins part refers to the Red Dax. It does take ages to get off. I use KittenSoft ultra kitchen towels:D hot water, soap, kitchen towel, hot water, soap towel. Baby wipes are much better but kitchen towel is cheaper:D I sound like such a bimbo, jeez.

I've never ventured away from Red Dax, what else gives the same hold? Is that hair glue any good (The one and on the add they are in the cinema crying and stuff?)

I used to used Brylcream wax(3/4 strength - green box) to spike my fairly long hair a while back, the trick is start at the tips of the hair, sticking them together and spiking them with the wax, if they won't stand, apply some more wax lower down on the spike.

When removing the wax first unclump the hair, ie. mess up your hair and unstick the spikes. Then apply some shampoo before you get into the shower. In the shower rinse the shampoo and shampoo again, really work it into your hair and let a lot of hot water fall on your head. Your hair will be greasy for the next day but all the wax should go in the next shower.

My hair is a nightmare to stick up because its so heavy, once it reaches even 2 inches it justs falls down in 2 minutes.
