Aye, great film. Don't waste your time on BR2 though - it's distressingly cack.

Love it...second one is cack though.

Loved BR, it's one of my favourite films.

2nd one is... Not so good. That's putting it mildly. A lot of it is pure gibberish.

But the first is amazing. Stop at that one. :)

i'd recommend watching oldboy if you liked BR. I've heard only bad things about the sequel as well...the director died half way through filming so his son took the directorial reins to disastrous effect.

BR is BRilliant allright, give the book a go. It was one of the presents I got my boyfriend last christmas, he rather liked it.

The first is very good, well made and inventive in a lot of senses.. a great film for sure... BUY IT, ignore the second.

First one is great, second one really degenerated into a Hollywood action flick...that said, some of the action scenes are fantastic, but there is ALOT of pointless scenes in there and it doesnt appear to translate very well...

Still worth a buy though, I think definately. Cost me 44.99, got it very shortly after release day

Yeh Battle Royale was really really good. Nice and gory too which is always a bonus. Like the previous posters have said i have'nt heard good reports about BR". Havent seen it myself but nobody has said its good.
Oldboy on the other hand is f*cking brilliant. Absoloutely top notch Korean movie making and well worth the watch!

It was originally a novel, afaik. The movie was made before it was translated into english in 2003. The graphic novels were made after the movie also.

Class movie. I only watched receltly and gald I have the second one also but im put off watching after what I heard about before I even read this thread.

The 2nd movie is not as good as the first, buts its by no means as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

Its extremely professional in comparison to the original, some very gritty and realistic scenes, as well as some great combat scenes that are as high quality as anything that comes out of Hollywood.

Not as good as BR, but still decent. Alot of poor filler in between action however.

i liked the second one... it's at least worth checking out before you listen to all the critics. it has a few pacing issues, but you can overlook them for the cool action parts, and the story is quite good.

First one, excellent. Second one? Forget it was even made.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,419 ✭✭✭nadir

Woah! Bit of a bump there.
Watched the second one last night as well, after loving the first one. It had a strong start (what with the landing and all that) but once
they joined the survivors it all went a bit rubbish tbh
. But what really knocked it down in my book was
the teacher's rugby dive at the end. I actually laughed my head of at what was meant to be a serious moment
    .
First one was a masterpiece though.

    the second one is awful

it almost takes away from how good the first one was

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,404 ✭✭✭qwertplaywert

too true.................in relation to your second spoiler: it seemed to be they were trying to make it intennially funny, but imo it wasnt

in the first, i would find myself laughing out loud at various stages

the plot for the second one didn't make any sense. If they wanted them to complete the mission they were sent on, why making so horribly difficult for them!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,905 ✭✭✭User45701

First one was amazing the second one was still quite good i loved the music in it allot more than the music in the first one
