using an amilo M7405 laptop i bought in october and all works grand. had my usuall Bluetooth dongel plugged in and a new trust usb 1.0 hub in the next port(was testing my new toy) had the mouse reciever plugged into that and all was working grand. (and i was running on mains power on the laptop btw, and the hub was non-powered) plugged my other new toy, a disgo 512mb key into the hub and all the usb went dead. laptop stayed on.
i checked the drivers and no issues. rebooted and still nothing. uninstalled all the usb root hosts and all usb drivers i cud find and then they wer found and reinstalled perfect but i still got no response when i plug somethin into them... firewire still works perfect.
i figured i blew somethin on the MB but really dont wanna think the worst as im mid exams and cant afford to send the laptop away to fujitsu for 3 weeks. i work for the retailer that i bought it from so id get it sent and bk fairly quickly.

    any ideas folks?

Contact Fujitsu, explain the problem. I have just had a MB go on my 3 year old PC and they are sending an engineer out with a new MB. I think all F-S stuff is at home repairs but I could be wrong.

Have you tried plugging everything into the laptop and not the hub incase the hub is damaged.

iv tried every usb product i have. ill call them tomorrow and see what they recommend. i expect it to have to be returned but i shall see. so would people agree it def seems to b a blown part of the MB?

Not sure seems odd that only the USB was affected. I was going to get a non powered hub but think I will get a powered one now :)

Anyway, make sure you have the 10 digit serial number to hand as they will need that.

Sadly it seems you are right, it is return to them for laptops. Seems strange as there is no real price difference these days or do they expect laptops to go wrong more often
