that is what I am right now! **** man, I'm just in from work and we ere talking about ghosts and ****, there is a bit of a story/rant and here is goes:

last saturday night I was working, as usual, in my local pub. after clean-up we sat down for a few beers when the fire alarm went off, it was reported in the tpo bar so the manager went to have a look and there was nothing there so he reset the alarm, then about a minute later it happened again, in the same area, once again he checked and once again there was nothing. we just joked about it, but it happened again, and again, and again. In total it must have happened 7 times, atleast. so talk turned to the fact that some ppl had dies upstairs in that very pub, including one man who hanged himself. So naturally enough we were all ****tin' ourselves and decided to go home.

Now last night I was working aswell and I decided to have a look, because I assumed they were bull-****ting about the hanging , at the room where they say he was hung himself. now upstairs, there is a spirit room and a store room, in the store room there is a little passage where you go if you want to get to the attic, or the old stock room. I went down that passage and I came to a three pronged fork in the path. one way went into the attic, one went into a room and one was blocked by a loced door, this was the one with the old spirit room behind it. as I stood there I got the colly-wobbles and had to go back.

later I went back to the store room to get some napkins and I thought I heard something (I was upstairs alone btw) so I froze and heard nothing, so I went on a little weary then I heard it again so I froze a second time and this time I could still hear it, very muffled footsteps, and I just freaked! I could not go back upstairs that night!

then tonight I had no real problem going upstairs, I even went into the store room to get black sacks and heard nothing this time but I felt really cold. anyway nothing too much to report about that.

then after work I talked to a girl who has worked there for years, and who had not been present last saturday, and I asked her if she heard about the 'ghosts' and she said she had,and infact was subject to two things.

first was where she was working one night and afterwards when she, the manager, and another colligue were having a drink they all heard footsteps upstairs, and those three were the only ones in the pub that they knew of. so the two lads got golf clubs and went upstairs to check and found no=one so they just left, left two full drinks, just left the pub.

the second was a few weeks after she started she was in lounge alone, and the manager asked Anthony (a worker) to call in and see how she was doing. anyway she ran into a spot of bother so she went outside and saw a man standing in the walkway, opposite the way she was going, wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans, and assumed it was Anthony so she gave him a wave. then the next day she ran into Anthony and asked him how she thought she did that night and he said he didn't call in atall, that he forgot. THATS when she got scared.

by now I was terrified, then another girl said that she had her photo taken a while back with her beside the TV, and she swears blind that the tv was off when the photo was taken but when she looked at the developed photo there was a white smudge on the tv, she wasn't sure what it was, but when she turned the photo over there was a womans face on the back!

now I heard tose stories tonight, I ran home and thats where I am now, ****ting myself!

    thank you for reading

PS. sorry about the typo's, if any

Spooky, however i think that these things are usually 90% in your head. When you spook yourself about something then your senses are heightened and your mind exaggerates everything. Sounds like all of you guys have become a little supersensitive here...

Interesting. You might not believe it but I would kill to be in your position! Get a camcorder and a brave friend an sit up there for the night. Seriously, I would love to be able to do that.

Theres a bit of the story that iosn't very clear. When the girl you spoke with saw a person in the "walkway", im unclear about what that whole piece of the story was about, what was the "bother", whats this walkway?

The white smudge was the reflection from the flash. The woman's face on the back was probably the result of a 'dirty' drum on the photo-processing machine that retained the image of a previous photo.

Case closed...and I would have gotten away with it too if it wasn't for you meddling kids! But what's that behind you? OMG!

    ...made you look!

Spiders can get into the alarm sensors, it happens where I work. Alarm guy could tell you if it was one sensor or many of them setting the alarm off, and if it was a fault.

Pubs can be spooky places tho, and this kind of thing seems common. No idea why this should be!

Hee hee. I hadn't thought about it like that.

    Hmm...

On a completely unrelated matter, is there a particular way to kill someone to ensure they come back as a ghost?

    ;)

Its quite common to see white blobs or what is called by experts "orbs". They are believed to be the initial materialisastion of a spirit. Some of these have been caught on camcorder with night vision enabled. They are seen moving around. Some think its the actual spirit moving.

I have been interested in ghosts for years. I am not sure the reason but its is alarmingly common for spirits to show themselves on tv sets in photographs. It does sound ridiclous but I have seen 100's of pics where there is a family photo and in the background you can make out an image of a face on the screen.

I would love to go to that pub and do a little investigation. Look out for cold spots. If your in a room and it suddenly turns cold or there is just a section of the room that is cold, it usually means that there is a spirit present or there is a vortex. (gateway for spirits to enter our world from the spirit world).

Of course there are spirits that are referred to as grounded spirits. These are ghosts that can't leave the building/place they haunt. These spirts are people who met an untimely death. Usually suicides or murdered people.

Some spirts get annoyed when people move into the house they once owned or lived in. They start to "haunt" the place, move objects, make noises, scream, upset people etc.

Others are just plain evil, and you just dont want to go there!

The whole 'orbs' thing is complete bullsh*t and is down to lens-imperfections refracting light from strong light-sources in shot.

However, I've done a lot of research in Raudive's early work, and while I consider myself a sceptic, I think there's something there about the whole electronic-voice thing.

Motion sensors can be triggered by something as simple as a poster being disturbed by the wind. In fact, in a place I worked the alarm went off four times in one night and only stopped when the security guy laid some signage that had been stood against a wall, on the floor.

If that was the case the whole thing would be discredited by photographic experts. Alot of what people think are "orbs" are in fact light refractions but not all are. And that doesn't explain the orbs caught moving around on night-vision cam corders.

A great number of orbs such as those the most haunted crew get excited about are simply airborne bits of dust. The cameras emit a small amount of light, but are also night vision cameras, so the dust is lit up and seems to glow.

    sounds like bs

I,ve had experiences with a bad spirit in my house believe it or not it usually happens in my bedroom when i,m in bed just as i nod off to sleep it feels like i,m being pinned down in the bed and i can,t move my arms or lift my head from the pillow and like i,m a strong guy and even one night i heard kind of babbling that i cud,nt understand what it was or make it out this happened while i was being pinned down. also my girlfriend saw a dark shadow standing over her one night when she stayed in my place. it freaked her out.

You're unable to move while lying on your back in bed while on the cusp of sleep?

Could someone field this one please, I've done it far too often.

phelo, just do a search of this forum under sleep paralysis, as what you are describing has been discussed before. I would also be open to the view that haunting can happen as you describe, but I think sometimes people who have been spooked can rush to assume this is what it is. In any case please dont let it keep you up nights. You cant be physically harmed by spirit, and afaik sleep paralysis is pretty benign too. Try to dismiss it as 'one of those things'.

Zillah, its not like you to sound so world weary and depressed :D Hope you are ok and will be back to your perky self soon. ;)

ooooh aren't you the little detective  , the manager went golfing before he came to work

anywho, as an update on the situation, I have decided that ignorance is bliss, whenever I go upstairs I rattle any box of glasses I find, make heavy footfalls and whistle the first tune that comes into my head, my logic is: if I can't hear the ghosts they don't really exist.

however I had a cliche horror movie moment the other night: I heard something, even though I was whistling, looked around for a second and went on with my buisness. in retrospect if I had been seeing that in the third-person and I was told there was a murderer upstairs I would have been yelling at myself "RUN YOU STUPID BASTARD, THATS THE KILLER!"... I guess you had to be there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,566 ✭✭✭Gillo

I used to drink there (but then I turned 17!!)

On a serious note though, it's a very old building the downstair of which were converted into a pub, I've no idea what is upstairs. considering it's location, I would guess there has been a building there for hundreds of years. It is also full of lots of antique's (the sports bar part, for anyone who knows it).

There's alot of history which in the building, maybe a spirit is attracted to the building or an item in it. Being a lively pub at the weekend, there would be a lot of energy for a spirit to tap into.

I'd accept that it may be haunted, but been sceptical, thats all I'd venture at this stage.
