    I get the impression that pregnancy can be tested for within 2/3 weeks of conception.

    cutie did you not look for info on the MAP? its effective for up to 72 hours, but is more likey to work in the first 24.

    generally its when your period is late but some tests claim to be able to detect before your period is due, its up to the individual test. i'd advise you to contact a doc ASAP and get some info there.

    Exactly what the above poster said!

    Really you are meant to wait till you miss a period. I was one day late when i did a test and got a faint line but a a line none the less on three different brands of tests.

    Apparently it can show ten days after conception (personally doing that i;d still be worried it was a false negative or something and be waiting till i missed a period to do it again)

    If you are still in the time frame for the MAP go get it. The longer you leave it the less effective.

    you can get an early pregnancy indicator test that will work a few days after sex.
    go to the chemist, buy one, put mind at ease, do exams, pass, get on with life...

    If it's any comfort to you I sat my second year exams in college when I was six months pregnant and did quite well. Do what WWM said first. If it transpires you are preggers, concentrate on doing your exams and then get thee to a doctor/Well women clinic.

    If you were considering a termination, you would have to wait until at least the 4th week to get one anyway afaik. Calm down- remember to breathe. You don't know anything for certain yet. Even if you are pregnant, it is not the end of the world. I've been there. PM me if you are and I'll send you my story about coming to terms with it and help you out with any info you need.

    When did the sex occur? An iud can be fitted up to 5 days later as post-coital contraception. It would have a high chance of preventing any pregnancy taking hold.

    the earliest I've heard of a pregnancy test being accurate is on the first day of the missed period.

    The IUD MAY NOT BE SUITABLE for women who have:

    * painful or heavy periods
    * unexplained vaginal bleeding (this should be investigated before using an IUD)
    * moderate to severe anaemia
    * previous ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy in the Fallopian tube)
    * a past history of PID
    * uterine or cervix abnormalities
    * valvular heart disease
    *never had a child

    The IUD IS NOT SUITABLE for women who have:

    * PID
    * infection of the cervix (cervicitis)
    * a high risk of STIs (currently has or is likely to have more than one sexual partner, or a partner who has more than one partner)
    * cancer of the uterus, cervix or endometrium
    * an allergy to copper

    OP:

    Take a deep breath.

    You sound like you're under an incredible amount of exam stress. It is possible that your periods will be knocked around due to that stress! However, you should wait until your period is due before you take a test... just in case you get a false result.

    All of the posts above are very helpful, but to be honest, I read them and got a little scared! Don't put the cart before the horse. Have a look at http://www.positiveoptions.ie/home.html - perhaps give them a call and they'll help to put your mind at ease.

    My gf took a test and was positive she got her hopes up (cause we want one) and two days later she got her period. She was late about 2 weeks. But your best bet is to go to a doctor (well woman centre) and get a test done.

    when my mom was pregnant with me she never had a positive test. you need to see a doctor, in this case our personal experiences dont help. GOOD LUCK!

    pregnancy scare is related to a seriously ripped condom, not due period for 2 weeks!!

    If you took the morning after pill like you were supposed to, then you are most likely not pregnant.

    Go back to the doctor to get them to reassure you.
