WIFI card and win2000

Help! My wifi card (Linksys) works fine in my laptop (win XP). Ive a home wifw setup with eircom. When I put the card in my wife's laptop (win2000) and loaded the programme it doesnt seem to register in the dial up box. Does win 2000 recognise wifw or am i wasting my time.
