You will get them in almost any big hardware store, Chadwicks, Woodies, Brooks etc etc. You will need Steel Toe and Steel Sole. You will pay about €60 for a basic pair.

This may only apply to apprentices, but your boss should sort you out with such things, boots, hi-vise jacket, hard hat etc.

yea am starting an apprenticeship he is getting me the rest but said i need to get the boots myself. Cant complain he seems decent enough giving me a bit extra money for travel expenses etc.

That's fair enough. What trade are you going into?

My boss didn't buy my boots either. I'm almost sure he was supposed to. He said he would then he made up some excuse about they didn't have my size. So I had to get them out of the pittens I was paid.

I'm changing from carpentry to cabinet making. Eagerly awaiting a phonecall from the guy I've applied to.

Fair enough - I'd also look at Snickers gear, they do a wide range of boots including some that don't look like safety gear ;)

Ah sure im not bothered paying for them ive been nearly 2 months looking for a good place to start, oh and its a electrician apprenticeship.

Sure if all goes well four years from now ill be 29 and ill be making proper money so i can live with the first years being crappy im in it for the long run. Only wish I hadnt bothered getting into computers in college, hobbies and jobs dont mix in my case causee I hated every day I went into all my computer jobs espically working in tech support god that was horrific.

Well the two are completely different. At least being an apprentice electrician you wont have to do allot of the ****e work that other apprentices have to do.

When starting cabinet making I'll have to go back down the the 1st year rate. I don't care to be honest. It's what I want to do and yes, even in 2 years we'll be earning a very good wage.

    Good luck with it!

Yea sure you only live once i mean im nearly 25 and only starting a trade but at least when im thirty I will be making (as far as im concerned) a fortune and doing something that makes me happy. God just thinking back to working in an office it was mind numbing I was so depressed and didnt even realise it.

What about the safety boots for sale in Lidl? €20 or €30, or something similar.Being a lazy pen-pushing, keyboard basher, I don't know whether or not they're any good. The last thing I dropped on my toe was a stapler!
