Hellalive: Quake3 Mod

We did this for a college project. Only had about 6 weeks to do it, and had to code it all in Linux  Just wondering what people think.

Pretty simple idea: Humans vs Vampires. Vampire's have little weapon useage and rely on close quarters combat/speed and stealthing/invisibilty etc, while human forces have a full weapons arsenal. Built in a ranking system, which improves your attributes as yoru progress. For vampires, that means better jumping/speed, longer invisibilty times, and less time between invisibilty activation delays etc, and greater health (and greater max-health), and eventually the Vampiric Energy Glove (lol :)). Humans gain increases in speed/jumping, health/armour and (max-health/armour). Any Quake3 maps can be used ;) Everything is a bit more detailed in the readme.

The Quake3 bots have been somewhat modified to allow offline play too, but because we built the team-based system from scrath instead of utilising the RED/BLUE system, the bots can be a bit buggy at times, but nothing too serious. Personally, we think its great fun played over a LAN or online with real opposition. Just wondering what some of you (if you care to try it) think.

Downloading, out of curiosity, what college course are you doing? (anything that involves coding games I want in...)

[Edit] Just played it, a fun mod. Played a few games with easy bots on pro-q3dm6. I love the movement with the vampires....strafe jumping has never been so easy ;) . The only problems are a) it feels a little buggy (sometimes when I pick up the weapon vampires can use, it still wont let me switch..), and b) The humans seem to be at a big disadvantage - when you can fly around as a vampire weapons don't matter :) .

All in all, good fun and I'll play it online after the exams if there are servers up.. [/Edit]

    Denominated Comp Sci in UCD.
Only got to pick this in 3rd year, as we had pretty much free choice over projects! :D
Apparently, Carlow IT started up a games-design course last year, I may be wrong.

Hang on, I'll look for the URL...

Yeah, its a Bsc in Computer Games! (Guess I'm going back to college after I'm thrown out of here so! :D)
