It seems a bit far out of town to be honest - why not try a hostel in NYC - might be a bit cleaner, cheaper and more central than that place!

Located in the Upper West Side of New York City, this hotel is two miles form the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Guestrooms offer one or two double beds and a desk in addition to cable TV, refrigerator, and a shared bathroom.

This refurbished Euro-style hotel provides a 24-hour front desk, laundry facilities, and Internet access in public areas.

is it really that far outta town? considering the subway can have us downtown in minutes. what is the area like?

its very cheap, which we need. we were looking at hostels but all the recommended hostels have fille dup so quick.

  • Why would you want to stay somewhere that has nothing but bad reviews? There has to be a hostel or something, this place sounds horrendous. I've only read a few reviews but one guy got threatened with a knife. It's a hotel for immigrants etc so he will still be there! Bad hotels in NYC can be downright dangerous, are you a guy/girl? I wouldn't stay there.

Just did quick search and found this hotel. Thought you might want to have a look into it.

    Hotel 31

I checked a room price, for 1 room 2 people for one night, date Jul-11-2005 to Jul-12-2005 (don't know what dates you're going over so just took one at high seasonish), got a price of $69 (€55). Got this price from www.expedia.com.

hotel also got very good reviews at this following website:

    http://www.virtualtourist.com/hotels/North_America/United_States_of_America/New_York_State/New_York_City-841252/Hotels_and_Accommodations-New_York_City-Hotel_31-BR-1.html

An idea also would be to search expedia.com for hotels/inns and that in new york region. You can sort the hotels by price so it makes it easier to find the cheaper ones. Then to check for reviews type "Hotel_name review" into google.

Hope that is of some help to you.

    A.

    thanks b3t4.

the dive is costing $450 for either 6 or 7 nights not sure as my gf booked the flights. were going 24th july.

our budget ideally would be around the 400-500 mark. we could afford more but we want to have money to do/see stuff. we travelled to new york from boston last summer and had a good time but we were strapped for cash (joys of a j1) and didnt get to do some of the things we wanted to.

never been myself but it seems like a much better location and a cleaner hotel!

you are within walking distance there of a lot of the attracions.

The donald trump building would be a good 20min walk from where the hotel is - remeber Central Park is HUGE!
