hey all,

im getting wireless broadband over the summer so ive benn doing some research. im looking into gettin wireless broadband with either Nova Networks or IrishBroadband, because they offer the best deals and have the upload speeds that i need.

SO... my question is... if i go with wireless broadband what kind of latnecy should i expect? im getting braodband for online gaming, so if i have high latency then it's not worth my while!

is there anyone out there who already has wireless broadband with either of these companies and could tell me what your ping rates are and especially if you game?

cheers!
B

This should be in broadband forum.

My pings with Irishbroadband are in general lower than dsl pings. It will be perfect for gaming. (that is assuming you are getting breeze and not ripwave.)

The thing about wireless is, you can expect fantastic pings as low as 12 to local servers but it's never consistant.

so when you say its not consistant does that mean my pings could jump over 100? as long as the high latency levels stay under the 100 mark id be just about ok for gaming....

Ping statistics for 82.195.136.36 (www.boards.ie):
Packets: Sent = 28, Received = 28, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 32ms, Maximum = 38ms, Average = 34ms
Control-Break

Those are abnormally high... but jolt are still good...
