Has anyone here ever been a victim of internet fraud??

I lost €300 last year, mostly due to my own stupidity. I won an auction for a phone, I used Western Union to send the money to a Romanian guy....He got the money, I never got the phone!!!

I got hit for €2080 earlier in the year.

The fraud protection on my credit card covered me... but it took a few months for it to kick in. It's really not a very fast process.

The secuirity on my credit card was compromised somehow I guess...

a website called mrbookmaker.com charged me €1040 twice.

The website was given 30days to explain themselves and refund me, but they didn't. Then the credit card fraud protection had to kick in and that took about two months. All the while I was heavily in debt.

It was really bad timing as well, I discovered the fraud on my card the morning before leaving for a 2 week holiday in Brazil and I was sort of counting on being able to use my credit card during the trip. But I had to destroy the card and wait for MBNA to deliver a new card to me in Brazil.

Just last month I was hit with about €3000 worth of spend in Woolworths (Australia), Telstra and some perfume shop. Fortunately, BOI were on the ball and tried to contact me when they saw the transactions. All sorted in a couple of days. They started off with €1 type transactions on eBay and then made a duplicate card before hitting Woolies.

WU is not liable for the nondelivery of goods or services. It's in the terms and conditions on the back. This means a payee can collect money and walk away. Important to remember when your buying stuff from a romanian.

My brother near **** himself the other day when he opened his card statement. There was two transactions for some place called Sky Bet for €1000 each.

He called the card company and they cancelled the card, they also told him to not panic as his next statement will have another €1000 on it for the same place.

They are sending out a form to be filled in and he wont have to pay so Phew.
